TO OUR VALUED COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND CUSTOMERS

COVID-19 Update – March 16, 2020

At Beaver Municipal Solutions, we have always believed that putting the health and safety of our customers, staff and community members is our top priority. This allows us to provide you a safe and reliable source of waste disposal. We are sure you’re aware by now of the extraordinary measures being recommended by government bodies and health organizations regarding COVID-19.

We’re sharing some of our thinking with you as well as the steps we’ve taken to protect our community, staff and customers during the unfolding of these events.

Staying Informed and Healthy

Our first priority is the health and safety of everyone on our sites. We are closely monitoring the situation and are receiving public guidance from the Government of Alberta. Our first commitment to you is that we will communicate any changes made to our operations that come as a result of this guidance.

No matter where you live, and whether you have been traveling or not, it’s worth our repeating the World Health Organization’s advice for protecting yourself and others. Wash your hands frequently with soap and/or alcohol-based sanitizers. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Cover your mouth or nose when you sneeze or cough. Maintain distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. Of course, if you have symptoms such as a fever, cough or difficulty breathing yourself, seek medical advice by dialing 811.

To help reduce the spread of this virus, we have closed our administrative offices to the public, effective immediately.

Helping Our Customers, Our Vendors

We understand that this emerging situation may impact your business.

Although our administration offices are currently not open to the public, staff will continue to work from home. If you need to reach someone, please call our main line at 780.663.2038 and leave a message with your name and number. Although we are not physically in our administration offices, we will regularly be retrieving and returning calls. Alternatively, contact can be made to info@beavermunicipal.com.

If you have any questions about your community garbage collection, please contact our office at 780.663.2038, extension 102. Our local collection service will remain as scheduled. Both municipal and rural bins will continue to be serviced. Large roll-off bins can still be requested. Transfer Stations will remain open as per the schedule, however, the Take It or Leave It at Lindbrook Transfer Station has been temporarily closed to the public.

If you need to make a payment, our Accounts Receivable department can help you set up an electronic funds transfer. Please email them at ar@beavermunicipal.com.

For our many out-of-county customers who use our waste hauling and disposal services, our services remain unchanged at this time with our operating times and our permit approval processes functioning as normal. If you have questions about impacts to these services, please direct your communication to our Permits team at permits@beavermunicipal.com or our Business Development Manager, Greg Olson at greg.olson@beavermunicipal.com

For our goods and services vendors, we will be processing invoices and payments as normal. If you currently are paid by cheque, it is recommended that you contact our Accounts Payable department in order to set up electronic funds transfer. Please email them at accountspayable@beavermunicipal.com

Any other questions or community concerns can be directed to Anne Ruzicka at anne.ruzicka@beavermunicipal.com.

The Help We Need

We understand that some of these measures are likely to create some inconvenience, however, we feel that these steps are necessary in order to maintain our level of service to you. We have taken the following steps to maintain our facility:

  • Effective immediately, our Satellite (reception) and Administration offices are closed to the public.
  • Measures have been taken to allow as many staff as possible to work from home.
  • All visitors, contractors and non-staff traffic to our site, whether or not they are bringing in waste, will be required to sign in at the Scale House. With respect to vendors making deliveries to the site, we may limit access during operating times, based on staff levels. It is wise to check ahead with the BMS staff managing the order or project.
  • Staff have been trained on preventative steps that include washing of hands and disinfecting frequently used items and surfaces, such as two-way radios and doorknobs.
  • Social distancing will be practiced by our staff as per Alberta Health Services’ recommendation. We ask that you please respect our staff by giving them the required 1 metre space.
  • All staff have been advised to stay home if they have travelled internationally or feel unwell. We ask that you do the same. If you are displaying flu-like symptoms, please do not come to our facility
  • Out of province travel for Beaver Municipal Solutions operations and training has been cancelled.

Presently landfill and transfer station operating hours remain the same, however may be adjusted if staff become impacted. We will continue to monitor the situation and have an emergency response and pandemic plan in place to mitigate any impacts.
