Grant Program Cancelled

Since 2013, Beaver Municipal Solutions has provided grants to the not-for-profit organizations located in Beaver County. This has been made possible through Policy FIN-013. This policy’s guidelines indicate that the grant program budget allotment will be based on prudent financial management practices. The economic impact of both the COVID-19 pandemic and the oil price drop has caused the Board to revisit this community grant program. Last week during budget discussions, the Board made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Community Grant Program.

All current applications will be held and when the program resumes, applicants will be contacted to confirm any updates or changes to the requests. Grants awarded in previous years that have not yet been able to submit receipts due to the current pandemic situation, will be accrued. If you have questions about the status of your grant, please contact us at connect@bmswaste.ca.

As soon as the program resumes, we will be posting notices on our website, Facebook and in this paper. We thank everyone for their interest in this program and hope to be able to reinstate it in the future.

Grain Bags and Twine Program

We are pleased to be one of the provincial pilot collection sites for grain bags and twine.

Grain bags must be shaken clean, rolled, and tied. Loose bags will not be accepted into the recycling program, but instead placed into the waste stream.

Twine must be clean (no straw, hay, garbage, etc.), unknotted and bagged.  Bags can be picked up at the Viking Transfer Station or Ryley landfill site by calling 780.663.2038 and leaving a message with your contact information, as currently, our administrative staff are working remotely. Sisal twine and net wrap cannot be recycled through this program and should  not  be  mixed  with the

twine as it contaminates the whole bag. Filled bags can be brought to the Viking Transfer Station or the Ryley Landfill.

If you are unsure if your material will be accepted into the recycling program, call our office and we will be pleased to help you.
