Beaver Municipal Awarded 2020 Top Employer; Surplus Funds Released to Municipal Members

Beaver Municipal Awarded 2020 Top Employer

For the third consecutive year, Beaver Municipal Solutions was selected as one of Alberta’s 2020 Top 75 Employers. This provincial competition is evaluated using Canada’s Top 100 Employers national competition criteria which include the the physical workplace, work atmosphere and social, health, financial and family benefits, vacation and time off, employee communications, performance management, training and skills development, as well as community involvement.

Surplus Funds Released to Municipal Members

Last week, Directors approved the distribution of $2 million in unrestricted surplus funds. Beaver Municipal Solutions had previously received ministerial approval to distribute these funds to the municipal members based on the 2019 audited financial statements.

Distribution of the $2,000,000 was as follows:

  • Beaver County: $928,458.90
  • Town of Tofield: $413,546.08
  • Town of Viking: $279,162.46
  • Village of Ryley: $198,370.70
  • Village of Holden: $180,461.86

Beaver Municipal Solutions is pleased to have been able to distribute over $14,000,000 in unrestricted surplus funds since 2013, as a way of giving back to the community in which it operates. Very few, if any, small communities in Alberta receive such an annual windfall, especially considering the current economic climate. The current proposal to transition to a municipal control corporation will help ensure these surplus distributions continue.
